The event was a collaborative, immersive experience designed for both community and clinical care providers and featured a range of current topics and dynamic speakers designed to inspire, educate, and increase awareness about how we can all improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

Jacque Hale, Director of Unite Virginia, will share social determinants of health data for Virginia, and examples of how providers can use tools like the Unite Us Platform to expand their network of support partners to more effectively meet the needs of the pregnant and parenting families they serve.

The Pathways Project (TPP) is led by Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University and seeks to build a ‘person centered pathway’ (PCP) for substance use disorder in pregnant and parenting women (SUDPPW) as well as establish a sustainable public health partnership in order to better serve families throughout eastern VA.

“Candy Wrapper Girls”  This presentation is about a unique program connecting incarcerated, pregnant  women with a RN Maternal Health Navigator who supports them during their incarceration and after release.  Attendees will also be challenged to examine their own feelings and interactions when caring for incarcerated women.

Donald Dudley Awards

Nominations open until October 18, 2023. Awards will be presented on Monday, October 23rd at the VNPC Annual Summit.

The Donald Dudley awards honor the commitment of past Obstetric Chair Dr. Donald Dudley who was instrumental in the establishment of the VNPC and committed to improving maternal and infant health outcomes. He also has a love of bacon and iced tea and requested it for each Annual Summit, now through these awards, we can ensure that it is present at every Summit moving forward!
The Donald Dudley Hospital Recognition Bacon Award will honor someone making a significant impact in maternal and/or infant health in a hospital setting. The Donald Dudley Community Recognition Iced Tea Award will celebrate someone improving maternal and/or infant health in a community setting.

DONALD DUDLEY HOSPITAL RECOGNITION AWARD CRITERIA

  • Improved some aspect of hospital system or process related to maternal health and/or infant health
  • Has earned the respect of peers and is often referred to for leadership and/or guidance.
  • Is a champion for equitable access to care
  • Demonstrates initiative to address social drivers of health
  • Is an active listener to patients and advocates for their voices to be heard and a part of their own care
  • Demonstrates respectful care with every patient encounter
  • Ensures that their actions align with the highest level of care for each patient all the time

DONALD DUDLEY COMMUNITY RECOGNITION AWARD CRITERIA

  • Active involvement within the community to improve maternal and/or infant health through tangible activities that lead to specific outcomes.
  • Has given of their own time and/or resources to support these efforts.
  • Strives to connect community systems to simplify navigation
  • Actively identifies ways to elevate the voice of their community
  • Elevates the need and/or advocates for improved maternal and/or infant health
  • Is a champion for maternal and/or infant health within their community
  • Sought after by the community as a trusted person

Join us at our annual Day of Learning for rich discussion and interactive education designed for both community and clinical care providers. The event will feature a range of relevant, current topics and dynamic speakers designed to inspire, educate, and increase awareness about how we can all improve maternal and infant health outcomes. The Virginia Neonatal Perinatal Collaborative will provide updates, and don’t forget to stop by our vendor tables during breaks!
