VNPC’s Community Fund has supported community organizations across Virginia in their maternal and infant health initiatives since October 2024. Now in its third year, the Fund has become a well-recognized source of funding for organizations ranging from small community hospitals to non-profits. The purpose of the fund is to support maternal and infant health initiatives and grow connections between VNPC and organizations serving Virginia communities. From childbirth education classes to newborn care packages, these initiatives innovatively advance maternal and infant health outcomes across the Commonwealth.
Starting with the 2026 cycle, the fund is prioritizing alignment with the Virginia Maternal Mortality Review Team (MMRT) recommendations. Those selected for the 2026 Community Fund demonstrated how their services support state level recommendations to reduce maternal mortality.
Earthside Birthing Services
Earthside Birthing Services, LLC is expanding access to culturally responsive maternal health services for underserved families in the Hampton Roads area. This funding will help them expand their offerings in prenatal education, birth and postpartum doula services, lactation guidance, and connections to community resources.
Villa Advocacy Group
Villa Advocacy Group will provide no-cost or low-barrier childbirth education to approximately 50 underserved families in Northern Virginia. Families will receive education on birth preparation, postpartum recovery, infant care and feeding, safe sleep, maternal warning signs. Villa will also be able to connect families to ongoing doula, lactation, mental health, and community resources.
Trillium Collaborative
Trillium Collaborative is supporting and expanding access to high-quality maternal health resources for expectant families and new parents in the greater Lynchburg area. Funding will go towards facility fee scholarships, birth kits, and prenatal vitamins for families facing financial barriers, while also supporting community wellness workshops that offer evidence-based education on pregnancy, birth, postpartum care, and parenting.
